Canongate acquires World all language rights in I Get Loud by David Ouimet
Hannah Knowles, Editorial Director at Canongate, has acquired World all language rights to I Get Loud by David Ouimet, direct from the author.
‘Don’t you know that we are louder together?’
I Get Loud is a tale of a special friendship and the strength and courage found within it. Through imagination, love and embracing each other’s beautiful, individual weirdness, two friends overcome obstacles and hardships they could not have faced alone.
I Get Loud is Ouimet’s second book following I Go Quiet, which has been longlisted for the 2021 CILIP Kate Greenaway Medal.
About the author:
David Ouimet’s illustrations have featured on album covers and books, including Robert D. San Souci’s Dare to be Scared and Nancy Etchmendy’s Cat in Glass and other Tales of the Unnatural. He illustrated Daydreams for Night by musician John Southworth. Ouimet's work was selected for the Society of Illustrator's Annual 59 and was exhibited at the Museum of American Illustration in New York City in February 2017.
David Ouimet said: ‘I feel so much gratitude that my books and the little girl inside them are blessed with the nurturing and truly unique home of Canongate Books.’
Hannah Knowles said: ‘In these incredibly overwhelming times, the beauty and purity of the message at the heart of I Get Loud – that together we are stronger – is a tonic to the soul.’
I Get Loud will publish 1 July 2021 in Hardback.
