Canongate: Independent Publisher of the Year 2021!

We’re delighted to have been named Independent Publisher of the Year at the 2021 British Book Awards! It’s an honour, and a brilliant recognition of all the work that everyone in the company has done to make a very difficult year so successful.

The judges said: “Canongate is a charismatic publisher… a fantastic story of growth and diversification.” They also made particular comment about the way the team has been supported through lockdowns and a move to working from home: “It’s a great company with a great culture.”

Being Independent Publisher of the Year is a great testament to everyone who works at Canongate, and all the amazing authors, translators, illustrators, agents, typesetters, proofreaders, booksellers, and everyone else we’re lucky enough to work alongside!
